Fully-Differential Frequency Filters with Modern Active Elements

This doctoral thesis focuses on research in the field of frequency filters. The main goal is to propose and analyze fully-differential current-mode frequency filters employing modern active elements. Presented filters are proposed using current followers, operational transconductance amplifiers, digitally adjustable current amplifiers and transresistance amplifiers. The proposal is focusing on ability to control some of the typical filter parameter or parameters using controllable active elements suitably placed in the circuit structure. Individual presented filters are proposed in their single-ended and fully-differential forms. Great emphasis is paid to a comparison of the fully-differential structures and their corresponding single-ended forms. The functionality of each proposal is verified by simulations and in some cases also by experimental measurements.

V této práci je prezentován v současné době nový element v elektronice - filtr fraktálního řádu, skládající se z fraktálních prvků. V práci jsou prezentovány a analyzovány vybrané fraktální obvody. Je proveden výpočet základních charakteristik a parametrů filtru, který se skládá z fraktálních prvků. Jsou diskutovány obvodové funkce a jejich kmitočtové závislosti. Simulace filtru pro návrh byla provedena v programu Matlab. Grafy kmitočtových závislostí (modulová a fázová charakteristika) byly simulovány v programu OrCAD. Jsou uvedeny příklady použití filtrů fraktálního řádu.

Controllable Fractional-Order Analogue Electronic Circuits

The doctoral thesis focuses on the synthesis and analysis of novel non-integer-order (fractional-order) circuit structures with electronically adjustable parameters. The main goal of the thesis is the design of new solutions of fractional-order current-mode filtering structures, fractional-order passive elements and also oscillators. The thesis contains the designs of three emulators of fractional-order elements, three filtering structures and two oscillators based on the usage of a fractional-order passive element in their circuit structure, and two general conceptions of fractional-order filters based on an approximation of the fractional-order transfer function. Based on general conceptions of the filtering structures, the fractional-order low-pass and high-pass filters are designed. The adjustability of the order, the pole frequency and in several cases also the quality factor of the proposed circuits is provided by used active elements with adjustable parameters. The features of the proposed circuits are verified by simulations using behavioural simulation models of the active elements. Several of these circuits were implemented on PCB and verified by laboratory measurement.

Návrh filtračních struktur fraktálního řádu

Tato práce se zabývá filtry fraktálního řádu (1+). Navržené filtry pracují v proudovém módu. Odvození těchto filtrů je dosaženo použitím aproximace třetího řádu odpovídající přenosové funkce fraktálního řádu. Jsou zde také popsány aktivní prvky jako univerzální proudový konvejor, proudový sledovač, operační transkonduktanční zesilovač a řiditelný proudový zesilovač. Na konci této práce jsou navržena nová obvodová řešení filtrů fraktálního řádu, která jsou poté realizována a podrobena experimentálnímu měření.

Pseudo-Differential Fractional-Order Frequency Filter

This paper describes a pseudo-differential fractional (1+α)-order frequency filter. Thestructure operating in voltage-mode and and works as a low-pass filter. The proposed structure ischaracterized by high input impedance, high output impedance and the minimum number of passiveelements when all are grounded. The properties and functionality of the (1+α)-filter are verifiedby simulations.
